Excited to have been invited to play in this amazing and atmospheric medieval church, now looked after by Friends of Friendless Churches:
In 2023 we celebrate 650 years since Margery Kempe was born in a town on the north coast of Norfolk, then known as Bishop’s Lynn. After some severe mental health challenges and an adventurous life as a pilgrim and visionary, she was responsible for the first autobiography written in English. To find out more, come along and listen to bray harpist, musicologist, singer and raconteur Leah Stuttard, who will introduce this feisty woman and her incredible journeys through readings from her book and music that comes from the places she visited: Rome, Assisi, the Veneto, Lake Constance, Jerusalem, Santiago de Compostela, Norway, Gdansk (then known as Danzig), Stralsund, Aachen, Canterbury, Norfolk, London.
