Not far from Norwich, this lovely little village was a welcome stop over point for me when I walked from my home in North London to Norwich and Walsingham in August 2021.
Come and listen to me talk about Margery Kempe, read from her book, and play and sing music that was created at the time when she was gallivanting around. This year marks 650 years since she was born on the north coast of Norfolk, in a town then known as Bishop’s Lynn. It wasn’t until after some severe mental health challenges that she led an adventurous life as a pilgrim and visionary. She was responsible for the first autobiography written in English, telling us about her life. I will introduce this feisty woman and her incredible journeys through readings and music that comes from the places she visited: Rome, Assisi, the Veneto, Lake Constance, Jerusalem, Santiago de Compostela, Norway, Gdansk (then known as Danzig), Stralsund, Aachen, Canterbury, Walsingham and London.
